Food Pantry
We successfully received a grant from Torfaen Community Food Scheme enabling us to run a series of workshops with our JGW+ learners. The workshops ran from September to December in preparation for the Community Christmas Market, hosted here at CCYP. The workshops consisted of a variety of cooking and arts and crafts, utilising locally sourced produce and ingredients.
Young people visited local farms and farm shops to purchase materials and ingredients to make and develop their own induvial products, which were then developed into range sold at the Community Christmas Market. Products sold included handmade soaps, candles, wax melts, homemade marshmallows, gingerbread and fudge. Each product range was designed, marketed, produced, packaged and costed by the young people, developing their social enterprise and key skills.
With a foot fall of over 200 people, the Community Christmas Market was a great platform for local venders and young people to showcase their Social Enterprise’s.
